HI!

I’M RENEE VILLANUEVA, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 14 years of experience in the field of social work and have been practicing as a therapist since 2017. My clinical work focuses on relationship trauma, attachment wounds, intergenerational patterns, and supporting individuals and parents in creating secure, connected relationships.

My professional path was shaped by a personal commitment to understanding family systems, attachment, and the impact of generational patterns. As I became more aware of the dynamics within my own family of origin, I felt called to deepen my understanding of trauma, relationships, and the ways our early experiences shape how we show up in adulthood. This journey led me to pursue advanced training in attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and nervous system regulation, both professionally and personally.

Through my work and continued growth, I have seen firsthand how healing attachment wounds and regulating the nervous system can transform relationships, with ourselves, our partners, and our children. My experience as mental health professional supporting individuals and parents in healing from childhood and intergenerational trauma has further strengthened my commitment to helping individuals break unhealthy cycles and foster secure attachment within their relationships.

I integrate traditional talk therapy with somatic and attachment-based approaches to address the whole person, mind and body. My training includes EMDR, trauma-informed yoga therapy (TIYT), a 200-hour yoga certification, somatic attachment therapy, Gottman Method Level 1 clinical training, and additional training in conscious relationship work. My approach is collaborative, culturally attuned, and grounded in evidence-based practice.

Whether working with individuals navigating complex family dynamics, healing from relationship trauma, or supporting parents who want to respond with greater regulation and intention, my goal is to create a thoughtful and steady therapeutic space. I believe that when we understand the roots of our patterns and learn to regulate our nervous systems, we can move toward secure, meaningful connection and lasting change.
